On 5 February 2021, a Decree of the Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic was issued in Volume 19 of the Bulletin of the Government of the Slovak Republic, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The government approved the restriction of freedom of movement and residence by a curfew from Monday, February 8, 2021, from 05:00. until 01:00 the following day, until further notice (no later than 19.03.2021).

The decree regulates:

  1. A ban on employees entering the employer´s workplaces
  2. An obligation for operators, including schools and school facilities, to prevent persons from entering their premises (providing for exceptions to this obligation for different groups of persons. The basic exception to entry into service is the ability to demonstrate a negative result from an RT-PCR or antigen test on COVID19 not older than seven days.)

The term „operation“ must be interpreted broadly, ie it should cover all public and private buildings and structures, including public buildings, operated for commercial purposes, with the exceptions of houses, flats and other residential premises.

It should be emphasized that according to the Decree:

  1. The operator of the facility and the employers are obliged to visibly place a notice of entry ban and exceptions from the entry ban according to this Decree at all entrances;

The operator of the facility is entitled to request the submission of a negative test document, or a document of an exemption, and is entitled to inspect these documents. It is also true that the entry of employees into the workplaces and other premises of their employer (except for the employer operating schools and school facilities) is prohibited, with the following exceptions: 

  1. In the period from 10 February 2021 to 19 March 2021 within the district classified by a resolution of the Government of the Slovak Republic according to the COVID automaton to III. And IV. The degree of warning if the person proves by a negative test result for COVID-19 not older than 7 days;
  2. In the period from 15 February 2021 to 19 March 2021 within district classified by COVID-19 not older than 15 days;
  3. In the period from 15 February 2021 to 19 March, 2021 within the district classified by COVID in the first stage of the warning, if the person proves by confirmation of a negative test result not older than 21 days.
